Feb 3 / 08

Only two afternoon games on Superbowl sunday, so I barely even have enough lines to get this first part.

The expected: Kobe goes for 30, 6 boards and 2 helping hands.
The surprising: I guess we will give it to Nick Young, the rookie Wizards guard got 14 points, over double his 6.5 season average.
The Disappointing: To the Mavs, for only scoring 67 points. getting 14 in the first, 13 in the third and 16 in the fourth.  That's no way to handle a big game like this one, facing off against one of the NBA's elite.

The odds and ends
Lakers
The big news was the Gasol was sitting on the bench, just biding his time until he makes his way onto the court.  I would have expected them to win this game anyways, it is like Christmas morning for them.  Their new present is just sitting on the bench and they are just giddy, knowing that once they unwrap they are serious contenders for the title.
5 players finished in double digits.
27 team assists, looks like everyone was in a giving mood.  All except Karl (41 sec of PT) dished out a helper.

Wizards
Jamison gets 21 and 11 boards to grab a double double.
Only a combined 5 points out of their starting guards.
Butler was second in team scoring with 15

Mavs
Team shooting was pitiful.  Going for only 30% on 23-76.  Another ugly number is the 14% shooting from behind the line, 2 for 14 from downtown.
Nowitzki and Howard both got 15.  Not great for either of them.  Just an ugly game all around for them.

Pistons
Well I guess I should congratulate the Pistons D (or else lack of Mavs O)
Wallace leads the way with 21 points, 9 boards, 3 assists, and 4 blocks.  That's a nice looking line.
Stuckey and Hayes go for 11 and 10 off the bench.  They are fitting nicely into this line-up.
With this team, production isn't need from just one person.  Billups only scored 9.  McDyess only added 2 to the team total, but he did grab 11 boards.

Well thats it for a pretty slow Sunday.
