A huge huge night. Big games, and big numbers all around.
6 players finished with above 30 points
24 players recorded double doubles
Nowitzki and Watson brought in triple doubles
The Denver Nuggets were 2 Carmelo Anthony rebounds and 4 Carter assists from having all 5 starters finish with a double double
6 games were within 3 points points of each other.
The Expected: Williams, scored 29, 11 dimes and 6 boards. A typical night for D Will
The Surprising: The Suns-Hornets game, 8 players finished with 20+ points
The Disappointing: Thorton - Clips - scoring 4 points on 1-6 shooting, on a night where he got infused into the starting line-up.
the odds and ends
Spurs
Duncan finished with 23, 9 and 4 assists.
Oberto had 10 points and 11 grabs
Even production all around otherwise, no one else scored 10, but 4 finished with 9 and one with 8
Wizards
Jamison had the best night offensivly for this squad with 18
Though Blatche had the line for the Wizards with 16 points and 15 boards.
Lakers
6 players score 10+ points
I was going to jump on Kobe's back for having yet another weak offensive performance, but he was playing injured (finger). Kobe scored only 11, but he did add 10 assists to that.
Odom had a team high 19, with 11 boards to his total as well
The Lakers are obviously still working out the kinks of having Gasol in the line-up. How to properly more around the ball and let someone take charge in every game
Hawks
4 players finish with 15+
Joe Johnson drops the most, with 28
Horford had 15 points and a very nice 20 boards
Josh Smith was so very close to a triple double with 17 points, 9 boards and 9 assists. He also had 5 swats.
Nets
5 players had 10+ points, although only 1 had 15+ (Carter with 18)
Nothing really standing out on this one. Lots of even production, no one really stands out. 4 players had 6 boards and 4 players had 4.
Magic
Howard gets 21 and 13, with 2 blocks
6 players finished with 10+
Cook and Dooling both got 11 points in 16 min of PT off the bench
Lewis and Turkoglu tied for second in points with 19
Clippers
Maggette leads with 33
Kaman had a nice line with 12 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 6 blocked shots
Celtics
With all the talk of the Celtics waiting for the Clippers to drop Cassell, you think Rondo wanted to go out there and show what he can do?
Rondo led the team with 24 points, 8 assists, and 5 boards. (Cassell took a cheap foul cranking Rondo in the head and he was heading to the rim and got himself ejected)
Allen and Pierce went for 19 and 17
Powe came off the bench to grab a double double with 13 and 10
Pacers
Rush led the way from the bench with 24 points, with 7 boards
Dunleavy had a good line of 19, 9 assists and 7 boards
Pacers had 15 less boards, had a worse shooting % and still came away with the game
Knicks
3 players finish with 20+
Randolph scoring the most with 29
Balkman came out strong off the bench with 12 boards (6 offensive) and 3 blocks
Heat
While everyone knew it all along, yesterday's trade was a statement. Wade is the face of the Heat.
With that in mind Wade finally had a big game with 30 points, 12 assists and 5 boards
Davis came off the pine to shoot down 20
Pistons
Had another all around effort. all 5 starters finish with 10+, 3 starters grab double double's
Here are all of them
Billups 15 points, 10 assists
Hamilton 19 points
McDyess 10 points, 13 boards
Prince 14 points, 7 assists, 6 boards
Wallace 26 points, 10 rebounds
Bucks
Williams comes up huge again going for 36 points
Bogut had a nice night too with 24 and 14
Mavs
Nowitzki gets the triple double with 29, 12 assists and 10 boards
Terry had 23, solid 6th man production
Howard had 17 and 8
Jazz
Williams had that nice line of 29 and 12
Korver scored a hot 27 points
Okur scored 15 and grabbed 10. Fouling out limited him to 32 min
3 players off the bench finished with 10+ (Korver, Millsap, Harpring - 27, 10, 13)
Nuggets
Iverson and Melo go off again
Iverson for 34
Melo for 29
3 players with double double's, Iverson 34 and 10, Martin 18 and 10 boards, Camby 11 and 17 boards (including 7 offensive)
Camby also added 4 blocks
Sonics
Watson get a very impressive triple double 23, 10 and 10
Durant finished second in scoring on the Sonics with 17
Wilcox grabbed a double double with 15 and 10
Kings
6 players finish with 10+ (5 of those scoring either 10 or 11)
Artest racked up the team high with 20
Team only finished with 14 assists
Bulls
Lose a close one to the hot Blazers
Sefolosha and Nocioni tied for the lead with 22 a piece
The Bulls most impressive stat is the 44% 3 point shooting (compared to Portlands 17%)
Blazers
No surprise here as Roy leads the way for his team, dropping 28
Outlaw comes in strong off the bench getting 14 points in 20 min
Aldridge and Jack finish with 18 and 17
That's it for a very great night of basketball
A question came to my head as I wrote. The NBA are making the Heat and Hawks play the final portion of a game because Shaq was imporperly fouled out. But what happens now? Does Marion just take Shaq's spot and enter the game with 5 fouls? They are pretty much making them replay the end of the game because of the big fella and now he is gone. If anyone knows what's going to happen, let me know.
I hope you all enjoyed last night as much as I did

Chandra and I realized that you weren't nearly clear enough about the Shaq trade.
C'mon D, that needs to be headline stuff.
Here I was thinking that the Shaq trade was only a rumour, and Chandra tells me it happened.
But how would I know? Because I only check Stats Don't Lie and it didn't give me the info I needed. What the fitz???
I need my info!
